Easter Nests

It wouldn’t be Easter without this classic recipe! Anyone who grew up in the UK will have made and eaten these thousands of times over the course of their childhood. It’s a nice one to make with little ones as it’s four ingredients and there’s no oven involved.

Heat
There’s a variety of ways you can melt your ingredients for this recipe and it just depends on what you have available. I did mine using a Bain Marie to gently melt my butter and golden syrup and then added my chocolate whilst still stirring on a low heat. You could also melt them in the microwave or add your chocolate once the butter has been removed from the heat.
It’s just worth bearing in mind that using a microwave could cause the mixture to split, although it’s very rare.

Method:
Crush your shredded wheat into small strands in a bowl
Break up or chop up your chocolate (it will melt easier the finer it’s chopped)
Add your butter and golden syrup to a bowl and melt it over a pot of hot water (or do it in the microwave)
Once your butter is fully melted, add your chocolate and stir until it’s all fully melted and incorporated
Pour your chocolate mixture over your crushed cereal and stir until it’s fully covered
Use a spoon to scoop out small circles onto a sheet of baking paper
Pop them in the fridge to cool for about an hour and then serve
If you’re making these in warmer weather, I recommend storing them in the fridge when they’re not in use
