M&M Tiffin

I don’t know about you guys but I’m an absolute tiffin addict! It lasts for ages, is super simple to whip up and it’s an instant crowd pleaser. I’ve been dancing around different tiffin recipes for a while trying to settle on my favourite to post, and as I’m obsessed with crispy M&Ms, I figured this was the one to go for!

Ingredients

The best part about this tiffin is that it’s totally customisable. You’re very welcome to follow this recipe to a T, but feel free to add in any extras you like. I know a lot of people use raisins in their tiffin but I can’t stand them, so I’ve left them out. You could also add nuts for extra crunch or marshmallows, the options are endless!

If you live in a country where M&Ms aren’t available, first of all, I’m so sorry. But, you can substitute M&Ms for any form of little chocolates you have available! I use the crispy kind as they’re my favourite, but any of them should work.

Process

I really wasn’t kidding when I said tiffin is a super easy bake! I say bake, but no baking is actually involved. You’ll need to melt your chocolate, butter and golden syrup together, but apart from that there’s no heat involved, which makes it a great bake to do with children.

I’d generally recommend chilling your tiffin for at least two hours to make sure it’s properly set before you serve it, and I always keep mine in the fridge after I’ve cut it up.

Method:

  1. Line a deep tin with greaseproof paper

  2. Finely chop your milk and dark chocolate and set them aside

  3. Cut up your digestives and weigh out 150g of your M&Ms and set them aside

  4. Melt your golden syrup and butter in a saucepan on a low heat until completely melted

  5. Remove from the heat and add your dark chocolate and 300g of your milk chocolate, save the rest for later

  6. Stir until your chocolate is melted, putting it back over the heat if necessary (use a low heat if you choose to do this)

  7. Add your cut up digestives and M&Ms (plus any extras you’re adding) to a bowl and pour your chocolate mixture over the top

  8. Give it a good stir to make sure all the ingredients are incorporated and then pour it into your lined pan

  9. Melt the leftover milk chocolate you kept aside earlier and pour it over the top of your tiffin (I find doing a chocolate top just makes it look more uniform)

  10. Sprinkle on your left over M&Ms to the top of your tiffin

  11. Place in the fridge to set for at least 2 hours, and then remove and cut up into chunks to serve
