Marzipan Christmas Shapes

A couple of weeks back I asked my lovely Instagram followers what kind of recipes they’d like to see going forward. A very popular request was for some simpler recipes, and I totally get it! We don’t always have lots of free time and money to bake, especially over Christmas. I’m hoping this recipe will scratch that itch.
Me and my mom both adore marzipan and so it features in a lot of my Christmas baking (although honestly I could just sit and eat the whole block!)

Decoration
I used dark chocolate for this recipe simply because it’s my favourite but any chocolate will work! If you’re going to be using a dairy free alternative however, just bear in mind that it may melt differently to how you expect.
I also recommend you chill your shapes before dunking them in chocolate. This will stop them from getting too warm and loosing their shape. Even so, you do need to move quite quickly, so make sure you have enough chocolate melted to dunk it and cover it straight away.

Method:
Roll out your marzipan until it’s about 1/4 of an inch thick
Cut out shapes from your marzipan using Christmas cookie cutters (or a knife)
Chill your marzipan shapes in the fridge. I recommend doing so for at least half an hour, but I left mine for two
Melt your chocolate in the microwave or over a Bain Marie adding a drizzle of oil to thin it slightly
Dunk your marzipan shapes into the chocolate and then place them on a tray covered in baking paper
Place the tray in the fridge to set the chocolate for an hour and you’re done!
