If you’re looking for a simple treat for this Valentines Day, you’ve come to the right place! These cookies are so simple to make and look so impressive, perfect to share with the people you love.

The Decoration
The main things that makes these cookies Valentine’s Day themed is the chocolate hearts on top. I used the Dr. Oetker ones, but you can use any you like!
Depending on how big the ones you use are, depends on how many you’ll need to decorate. The ones I used were quite small though, so I used two on each cookie.

Method:
Cream the butter, caster sugar and brown sugar together until fluffy and lighter in colour.
Add your egg and your vanilla extract and mix these in until they're just incorporated into the dough.
Add both of your flours and mix again until a dough is formed. Add your mixed chocolate chips (not the heart ones) and then mix these in too. It can sometimes be easier at this point to just get your hands in there as the dough can be quite stiff
Roll your dough into ping pong sized balls and place them on a lined tray
Pop them into the fridge and leave them to chill for at least 1 hour
At the end of the hour, heat your oven to 160c fan and remove your cookies from the fridge
Bake for 10-12 minutes and then remove your cookies from the oven. Your cookies should be going slightly golden, but will still have a soft centre
Whilst they’re still warm, add your chocolate hearts on top
Leave the cookies on the side to cool
Serve and enjoy!
These cookies should last about a week in a sealed container
